Tour for Life

Christian Erhard from Riegel was only

25 years old, when he suffered an
epileptic fit in the swimming bath and
received the diagnosis Astrocytoma

shortly afterwards. The initial repression
of his disease was followed by the
search for alternatives to the classic
treatment and eventually by the decision
to undergo surgery. This should be

followed by recurrences and two further

operations, the last one in May 2014.

Despite all stresses and strains caused by the disease Christian, now 31 years old, says, that he was given a second life. Through his diagnosis he became aware of how unique and wonderful life is and how much you can reach, even when you are suffering from a bad disease. So he used the time between surgery and radiotherapy and travelled 1000 km from Munich to Graz this summer – his very personal Tour for Life. In so doing he combined one of his favourite hobbies, cycling, with his inherent wanderlust.

 
He wants to share his positive attitude with other people and has therefore initiated the project “Tour for Life - Cycling Against Cancer”. Thereby the speech therapist has set himself a big goal, which is going by bike around (half) the world. On the first stage to which Christian will set off on the 1st of April 2015 the distance between Berlin and Istanbul shall be covered. The arrival in Istanbul is planned for half a year later. Allowed to attend the tour is everybody whether affected by a bad disease like cancer or multiple sclerosis or not. Every participant can ride along as long as he wants to and can join or leave the tour at any point.
